FLY TYING LESSON – HOW TO TIE THE GOLDEN KNIGHT CRAB FLY

For all the bonefish fanatics out there, this episode of The Fly Tying Station is for you! Alphonse Fishing Co. guide, Angus Forsyth, shows us how to tie a classic bonefish crab fly known as the ‘Golden Knight’. This a quick and simple fly to tie and it has proved its effectiveness time and time again.

The Outer Islands of Seychelles has gained the reputation of being one of the world’s best bonefisheries with huge populations of bonefish roaming the flats. We have spent many years getting to know these beauties and we can confidently say they find the “Golden Knight” irresistible.

To tie the ‘Golden Knight’ you will need the following materials:

    • Gamakatsu – SL113H SZ. 6
    • Danville Nylon – Flat Waxed
    • Bead Chain – Brass
    • Fishient Group Tinsel – Gold
    • Fishient Group Crystal Flash – Black
    • Fishient Group Artic Foxtail – Brown
    • Dumbbell Eyes – Tungsten

We predominantly use this fly pattern on the flats in the skinny water. The lightweight dumbbell eyes ensure a light presentation with minimal disturbance on the water. This fly will, without any shadow of a doubt, be in every guide’s box.
