Fly Tying Lesson – How To Tie The Alphlexo Crab Fly by Cullen Ashbey

In this episode of the Fly Tying Station, Alphonse Fishing Co™, Cullen Ashbey will be showing us how to tie the legendary Alphlexo Crab. This fly has been revolutionary in terms of landing permit and is extremely realistic in size, colour and even texture – good enough to fool any permit. This fly is an absolute must-have when targeting the silvery species!

The Alphonse Fishing Company guides combined and evolved various patterns to finally tie this hybrid fly that has fundamentally changed the odds of catching Indo-Pacific permit. The Alphlexo is a hybrid that combines flies like the Flexo Crab, Orvice Crab and various others to change the odds of catching the most technical fish that swim the flats of the Seychelles outer islands, heavily in the angler’s favour.

The end result is a crab fly that an angler can confidently cast at an Indo-Pacific permit with the true belief that they have a chance at a reaction or even striking gold! Other species regularly caught on the Alphlexo Crab include bonefish, emperors, and bluefin trevally. It also works particularly well for the triggerfish across the Alphonse Fishing Co. destinations.

There you have it! Now you know how to tie the best fly to target the Indo-Pacific permit.
