Great fishing was experienced on St. François Atoll last week. The week started with a spring tide and 10 eager anglers keen to wet their lines and bend their rods. A strong westerly wind blew making casting a challenge for the anglers however this did not affect fishing with some amazing catches being reported. The spring tides allowed for excellent shots at GT’s, milkfish, bonefish and triggerfish.
The bonefishing was on top form over the week with the tide allowing anglers to fish schools of bones as well as big singles in skinny water. The anglers landed 370 bonefish over the week. The biggest fish was landed by David Hankowski measuring 62 cm.
Day one started off on good note. The weather was very good and the tides were perfect. The largest giant trevally of the week was landed by Seth Hankowski measuring 95 cm. Tarquin Millington-Drake landed a nice 68 cm GT and his counterpart Toby Burrel landed an 88 cm GT while out on a surf walk. Tarquin managed a flats slam on day one consisting of a moustache triggerfish, a 68 cm GT and a nice sized bonefish.
Seth managed to land another GT on day three measuring 71 cm. Tarquin managed to land the Milkfish of a lifetime measuring 130 cm guided by the legend Wayne Haselau. Tarquin and Toby managed to rack up another four bluefin trevally and a nice sized GT on day five.
A great week had by guides and guests, where memories were made that will last a lifetime!
