ASTOVE ATOLL FISHING NEWS | 17 – 19 MARCH 2023
It was a shorter week on Astove, the group spent four days on the atoll after having just spent the week prior on Cosmo, it was a beautiful change in scenery for the guests and the atoll held some good days out.
On the first day, everyone set out for the afternoon to get glimpses at fish but unfortunately, the bad light made it difficult to spot the fish. Mark and Colin still managed to get themselves a few bonefish each at Paulie’s.
The next day had GTs on the menu, Philip and Michael got GTs off rays, having some fun adding to their growing tally of GTs for their entire trip, they also had a few shots at feisty surf bonefish which unfortunately got away.
Mark got himself a nice GT off a ray while Colin, hungry to bring them in, got three GTs for the day. Always fun when the fish play the part.
On the last day, Mark and Colin got a GT each on the morning surf walk. Michael learnt a bit more about big GTs near the surf, having hooked a monster which quickly found coral and ended in a big smile but no picture, unfortunately.
A great couple of days on Astove!
Stay tuned for next week’s report.
Tight lines,
