ALPHONSE ISLAND FISHING NEWS | WEEK 6 | 23 OCTOBER – 30 OCTOBER 2021
This week started with some of the best conditions we have had so far this season where the tides provided great giant trevally fishing opportunities, with lots of fish being seen and caught throughout the week.
Starting with the gangsters of the flats (AKA GTs) both Ed and Nikki caught their firsts, with Nikki’s husband Rob catching a good few as well. As always, the bonefish have been plentiful, although the bigger fish were scarce this week.
Chris, Jessica, Emma, Isabella, Alex, Olivia, Danny, and Blakely all joined the bonefish club this week by catching their first bone on fly and Ben was hailed the angler of the week with a GT of 110 cm, Indo-Pacific permit of 39 cm and a few days of 20+ bonefish. What an achievement!
In the deep blue on the blue water boat Chris, Jessica, Olivia, Florence and Emma all caught their first sailfish, while Isabella, Florence, Chris, Olivia, Jessica and Gabba caught their first wahoo and Emma her first barracuda. Florence and Gabba were fortunate enough to catch their fish on fly.
Well done to all the anglers for an amazing week of fishing and some memorable catches. With the last few puffs of southeast winds coming through and some steaming-hot days, it looks like the next few weeks are going to be spectacular.
Tight lines,
