COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 10 APR – 17 APR 2025
This past week on Cosmoledo Atoll was set against the backdrop of the full moon spring tides for April. With the full moon landing almost perfectly in the middle of the week, we experienced consistent spring tide conditions throughout each day, which brought with it dynamic water movement and exciting opportunities on the flats.
Weather conditions over the week displayed a full range of possibilities. The first half of the week was marked by some winds and scattered rain showers, creating some challenging yet rewarding sessions on the water. As the week progressed, we were treated to picture-perfect conditions that opened up more areas of the atoll and made for some unforgettable fishing.
A huge milestone was reached by everyone who joined us this week—each guest successfully landed their very first giant trevally on the fly! Congratulations to Casey Krahenbuhl, Troy Bailey, Andrew Jones, Robert Grover, Ed Boyle, Hayden Watson, Richard Schutte, James Collis, and Jeremy & Chris Cox for checking off the legendary giant trevally from their bucket lists! A phenomenal accomplishment and one that will surely be remembered for a lifetime.
In addition to the GTs, a special shoutout goes to Jeremy Cox, Richard Schutte, and Andrew Jones, who also managed to land the elusive moustache triggerfish during several of the surf walks undertaken throughout the week. Congratulations, gentlemen, on bagging your very first triggers—an incredible reward for your persistence and patience on the flats.
There was also no shortage of classic flats action, with numerous beautiful bonefish brought to hand over the course of the week. These silver bullets added another exciting dimension to the fishing, especially during select tide phases when they showed up in great numbers.
