FARQUHAR ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT (29 MAR – 5 APR 2023)

    6 April 2023

    FARQUHAR ATOLL FISHING NEWS | 29 MARCH – 5 APRIL 2023

Five anglers descended onto the most southerly atoll in the Outer Islands, Farquhar Atoll. The guests were lucky enough to experience fantastic weather with very little wind and a tide that transitioned from a neap to a full moon spring tide making for some exciting catches on the flats.

The first day was off to a great start for Tim Daniels and Kevin Gallant. They teamed up for the week going forward and both managed to land their first bumpies. Sarah McHaney landed a fantastic GT starting the week off right, and Igor Nevedrov landed the first napoleon wrasse of the week.

The following day Kevin landed a nice trophy bonefish and another bumpy with Igor landing another GT and Gordon McHaney landing his first GT of the week.

Midweek things were heating up and Igor landed the first Slam of the week consisting of a napo, a bumpy and a GT. Gordon landed his personal best GT of a healthy 108 cm.

Igor, having had a taste of the big geets, was hungry for more and landed another two impressive GTs measuring 89 and 98 cm. Sarah managed to land another 2 napo’s.

To add something a little different to the week, Tim landed an 8 kg yellowfin tuna on fly and Gordon brought a nice 80 cm GT to hand.

The last fishing day of the week saw plenty of action sending all the anglers home with massive smiles on their faces. Plenty of bumpies were lost to coral but Igor ended his week off with a nice 89 cm napo and an 87 cm GT.

All in all, the anglers had a fantastic week with great weather and amazing fishing.

Stay tuned for next week’s report.
