    9 March 2023

    FARQUHAR ATOLL FISHING NEWS | 1 – 8 MARCH 2023

The week started with neap tides with the tidal variance increasing drastically towards the end.

On the first day, the atoll and its surrounds were blessed with great weather and the anglers were not disappointed by what the prolific fishery produced. Stanislav Gorbounov, a repeat guest to Farquhar, went out with his boat partner, Egor Chulanov, and both had some amazing catches.

Egor managed his first bumphead parrotfish and Stan was close on his tail landing one for himself shortly after. Egor also managed a great GT for the day. Stephan Kreupl and Marco Locher were boat partners for the week, Marco being on his third week in Seychelles after being on Cosmoledo for the previous two weeks. Stephan managed a 70 cm yellowdot trevally, a unique species for Farquhar and the first for the season, making it an incredible catch. Marco landed a 62 cm trophy bonefish. John Horlock, another repeat guest to Farquhar, went out on a single skiff and got himself his first GT for the week. Another repeat guest, Robert Gilchrist, was out on his birthday and managed three magnificent GTs for the day. Andrei Pavliukevich, also on a single skiff, managed a great GT of 81 cm in the surf. Egor got another trophy bonefish of 60 cm.

The following days the atoll did overtime showing off what it has to offer with Andrei landing his first moustache triggerfish, Stephan landing his first bumped parrotfish, Egor with a bumpy, Stan with a GT and Robert getting a Flats Slam with two GTs, a 107 cm bumpy and a bonefish. An amazing day to say the least. John had a fantastic day landing his biggest GT to date, a fantastic fish measuring 105 cm.

Marco and Stephan had one of the most incredible days on Farquhar for the entire season. Marco landed his first bumpy along with a GT and a bonefish to complete a Slam and then his boat partner Stephan went on to land two GTs, the biggest being 91 cm, a 108 cm bumpy, a trophy moustache trigger of 52 cm and completing he completed his Grand Slam with a bonefish.

An incredible week on Farquhar with some great highlights for the Farquhar season.
