    COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 03 APR – 10 APR 2025

    COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 03 APR – 10 APR 2025

This past week on Cosmoledo Atoll was set over the first neap tides of April, slowly transitioning into the spring tides as the days progressed. These shifting tidal movements created a dynamic and ever-changing fishing environment that kept both guests and guides on their toes, adding an extra layer of excitement to each session out on the flats and channels.

The weather this week brought with it a wide mix of conditions. For the most part, we experienced consistent wind throughout the week, with a couple of days marked by stronger gusts paired with some rain, which definitely made the fishing more challenging during that window. Despite the odd tough moments, the remainder of the week offered great fishing conditions with manageable winds and good light—making for some excellent opportunities to sight fish and cover water effectively.

A huge highlight of the week was Tyler Mercer landing his very first giant trevally—and on his very first trip to Cosmoledo, no less! An incredible moment for any angler, and one that Tyler will surely remember for a long time to come. A big congratulations to Tyler for not only checking off one of the most iconic species on the flats, but doing it in style on a remote and wild atoll like Cosmoledo. What a way to kick off your GT journey!

Another standout moment came courtesy of Murray Collins, who ventured into the deeper waters of the Channel and was rewarded with an absolutely stunning GT. After a strong and thrilling fight, Murray brought a true trophy fish to hand, measuring an impressive 107cm! A fish of that caliber is a real testament to both angling skill and a bit of luck lining up just right. Massive congratulations, Murray, on landing such a phenomenal specimen on the fly—what a memory!

This week also saw some fantastic bonefish action, with many of Cosmoledo’s big bonefish showing up in good numbers. Several anglers enjoyed double hook-ups, and a few of the fish landed measured over 60cm—true slabs by any standard! In total, 11 bonefish were landed during the week, adding to the variety and excitement that makes fishing here so special.

To each and every one of you who joined us this week—thank you! It was a pleasure to host such a great group of anglers, and we hope the stories, laughs, and unforgettable catches will bring you back again soon. Until next time, tight lines from all of us here at Alphonse Fishing Co. and the entire team on Cosmoledo Atoll!
