    COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 09 JAN – 16 JAN 2025

This week on Cosmoledo brought together 10 eager anglers, each presented with the rare and exciting opportunity to fish a spring tide at one of the most prime times of the year. Among the group were many first-time visitors to the Seychelles, and it was an absolute pleasure to share the experience with them. There’s something special about watching first timers reactions as they cast into these waters for the first time.

Robert Ron, David Williams, Mac Gardener, and Darren Sander were among the first to hook into their first GTs within the first few days. This was particularly impressive considering the weather conditions which they faced. Despite the challenges, they kept their spirits high and pushed through, reeling in some solid fish. Along with them, Rob, Mac, David W., Doug, and Scott each had their own successes, landing several bonefish. These fish are always a great addition to any angler’s day, as they consistently put up a good fight and provide some fantastic action. The bonefish never seem to disappoint, no matter how tough the conditions.

The weather throughout the week was a bit cheeky, testing both the anglers and the guides. It wasn’t perfect, but it was still fishable. We took to walking around Wizard Island, the island offered up some incredible opportunities. The team managed to get some shots at GTs and triggerfish, proving once again that Cosmoledo, the quality of fishing. Even with tricky weather conditions, the fishing here can be nothing short of spectacular.

Being a spring tide week, we were also fortunate enough to have the chance to do some surf walks. These walks are always a thrilling experience, especially when you’re searching for tailing triggers or watching GTs surf the waves in pursuit of their prey. The tides were perfect for this, and those moments—when the fish are right in front of you, riding the swell—are truly unforgettable. There’s something uniquely exciting about those surf walks, as they offer a fresh perspective and a chance to witness the raw beauty of the atoll from a different angle.

By the end of the week, we had landed an impressive thirty-four GTs and nine bonefish. In addition to those, we managed to tick off several other species from the list, including triggerfish and other reef dwellers, which added to the overall excitement and diversity of the fishing. Every day brought new challenges and new rewards, and it’s always a pleasure to see the anglers grow more and more confident as they tackle the waters of Cosmoledo.

We want to extend a huge thank you to each and every angler who joined us out here this week. Your enthusiasm, determination, and positive energy made it another unforgettable experience. We hope to see all of you back here again soon—there’s always something new to discover on Cosmoledo, and we’d be thrilled to share it with you again.
