COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | FESTIVE SEASON ROUND-UP 

12^th December – 19^th December

This past week on Cosmoledo was truly one for the books. Set over some beautiful new moon spring tides with large water fluctuations. This allowed boats to get into the surf zone and fish for giant trevally and triggerfish daily.

A beautiful spread of fish were brought to hand this week, including three giant trevally that were over the metre mark! Oscar Takata got himself a 103 cm Giant trevally in surf on the northern side of the atoll and later landed himself his first moustache triggerfish. Pablo Realini was one very fortunate angler, who managed to land himself a 120 cm giant trevally in the surf zone! An unbelievable achievement, earlier in the week he showed off some more skills and landed an impressive flats slam, consisting of a beautiful yellow margin, GT and a bonefish! Gustavo Acerenza was able to bag himself one meter plus GT, coming in at an impressive 112 cm. The fish was caught in the lagoon on the eastern side of the atoll over a white sand flat, which is a rare occurrence!

Kyle Bain, who is no stranger to the flats of the Seychelles, also managed to add up an impressive tally of GT’s over the course of the week as well as 3 beautiful moustache triggerfish. Douglas Cheetham, was on the hunt for elusive golden nuggets from the outset, after many hours of hard work and determination he managed to land an incredible fish of 65 cm permit.

19^th December – 26^th December

This week on Cosmoledo showed off, with sunny days and a gentle breeze, providing the ideal conditions for fishing. The great weather coupled with very few guests, meant the guys had an absolute blast and caught some phenomenal fish.

Chris Griffith a well-known returning client to Cosmoledo managed to hook and land 22 Giant trevally over the course of the week. Chris was also able to catch himself his very first Batfish on a blue bottle fly! This is truly an extraordinarily exotic catch for Chris. Congratulations to Chris on an awesome week.

Ian Hodge had a week he will never forget! Ian landed three Indo-Pacific permit this week, two of which where landed on the same day measuring 60 cm and 53 cm, respectively and the third fish came in at an impressive 64 cm! Ian also landed a yellow margin triggerfish and a moustache triggerfish this week. Congratulations Ian on your outstanding performance!

In total the week ended with outstanding numbers for only two anglers, with 35 GTs, eight bone fish, three permit, one moustache triggerfish and one yellow margin. Thank you, Chris and Ian, for coming out this week. We look forward to seeing you both here again soon!

26^th December – 02^nd January

Week four of the Cosmoledo season once again provided spectacular weather for our guests with relatively clear skies and little to know wind. The spring tides during the week allowed for some epic surf walking missions as well as great opportunities to target GT’s on the inside of the Lagoon edges

Vladislav Kukharskii, Valerii & Ilia Naumochkin took to the species Cosmoledo is best known for the GT. Showing some great skill and a fair amount of experience fishing in the Seychelles they were able to land a total of (53 giant trevally collectively over the course of the week. A great number to finish up on! Congratulations Gentlemen.

Chris Griffith was lucky enough to land his new personal best GT of 104 cm, on the eastern side of the atoll. He moved on to then catch a moustache triggerfish and a bonefish to complete a flats slam. Congratulations Chris on your awesome fishing. Breena Ross was fortunate enough to catch her very first giant trevally as well as a couple more on the back side of the week. Congratulations to Breena on her first GT!
