COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT (23 FEB – 2 Mar 2023)

    3 March 2023

    COSMOLEDO FISHING NEWS | 23 FEBRUARY – 2 MARCH 2023

The week on Cosmoledo was set over a neap tide, meaning that there was very little water movement over the flats during the day. The surf was too deep to get into the surf and walk so most of the guides ended up poling the surf line looking for geets which was made possible by the incredible weather conditions. Full sun, no wind and stable water levels. A lot of the time was also spent within the lagoon at certain points in the tide and this also produced good numbers of fish for the board.

Fish were seen predominantly on rays and sharks, making them easier to spot.

Nils Pearson was able to land himself a Flats Slam, consisting of a giant trevally, bonefish and a yellowmargin triggerfish. Congrats to Nils on his phenomenal achievement.

Wayne Harley, Nils Pearson, Brandon Rabke, Lee Olivier and Bruce Bolger were all able to catch their first giant trevally during the week on Cosmoledo, a bucketlist fish for most anglers, it was great to bear witness to the excitement of so many firsts for these anglers! The group went on to catch a couple more for themselves throughout the course of the week.

Justin Spence was also able to catch his first giant trevally and ended up with 14 for the week, taking him from zero to hero real quick!

Stay tuned for the next report from Cosmo!

    Tight lines,
