COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 13 FEB – 20 FEB 2025
Last week on Cosmoledo was a fantastic week of fishing, predominantly driven by the spring tides at the beginning of the week, gradually transitioning into neap tides as the days progressed. This change resulted in low tides moving later into the afternoon, offering perfect opportunities for productive GT fishing on the shallow flats. The weather varied throughout the week, with several days featuring large cloud cover and occasional thunderstorms. Despite a few brief interruptions due to electrical storms, the conditions soon cleared, allowing us to get back to fishing. The rest of the week offered ideal weather, with clear skies and calm conditions that made for great fishing.
We were thrilled to see Frank Bowen, George Wilkerson, Thomas Brownlow, Purdom Clayton, Paul Battle, and Dave Morgan all land their first Giant Trevally on the fly—a truly exhilarating experience for any angler! Congratulations to these fine gentlemen on a memorable achievement.
Matthew Anderson and Purdom Clayton had exceptional moments during the week, each managing to land a Giant Trevally over the 100 cm mark, with Matthew catching a 100 cm GT and Purdom landing a stunning 103 cm specimen. What an incredible milestone for both of them!
Frank Bowen and George Wilkerson also added to their impressive catches with a beautiful Moustache Triggerfish each—one of the more elusive species on the atoll, making it an excellent addition to their bucket lists! Michael Morgan also had an extraordinary catch, landing a giant bonefish measuring an impressive 69 cm in length and 36 cm in girth, which was roughly estimated at around 11 lbs.
