    COSMOLEDO ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT |  06 FEB – 13 FEB 2025

Our last week on Cosmoledo was an incredible experience, largely defined by the full moon spring tides of February. As the week progressed, we saw the tides gradually taper off from the neaps and into the full moon springs, providing us with more water movement throughout the 6-hour tide periods. This steady rhythm of tides helped create ideal fishing conditions that we eagerly took advantage of.

The water conditions throughout the week were some of the best we’ve ever encountered on the atoll, with virtually no wind for the first four days. The last two days saw a light 3-4 knot breeze, which was a welcome change. These still conditions, however, made the flats incredibly hot during midday and into the afternoon. Despite the intense heat, the calm waters allowed the guides to pole their skiffs in any direction and keep the boats perfectly still when targeting species such as triggerfish.

Pamela Johnson, Brett Briggart, and Collin Scully all had the opportunity to land their first Giant Trevally on the flats of Cosmoledo Atoll. The conditions were nothing short of breathtaking, and their successful catches marked a significant achievement on their fishing journeys. Congratulations to each of them for checking another amazing species off their bucket lists!

This week also brought some impressive triggerfish catches. Stephan Kreupl had a standout performance, landing three Moustache Triggerfish, one of which measured 52 cm. He then moved on to catch a stunning Yellow Margin Triggerfish, which came in at 54 cm. Helmut Zaderer also had a fantastic week, landing one Moustache Triggerfish (52 cm) and two beautiful Yellow Margin Triggerfish, with the largest measuring 53 cm in fork length. Alan Oliveira and Vadim Titovets also each managed to catch a Moustache Triggerfish, further adding to the impressive list of catches for the week.

In terms of big fish, this week was exceptional. Four Giant Trevally measuring over a meter were landed, showcasing the incredible fishing opportunities that Cosmoledo has to offer. Alan Oliveira was the first to land a 102 cm GT around the main channel of the atoll, a great catch to start the week. Stephan Kreupl followed up with two separate meter-sized fish, the largest of which measured an impressive 117 cm at the fork of the tail. Helmut Zaderer also joined the big fish club early in the week, landing a 102 cm GT on the first day. These catches were a testament to the quality of the fishing on Cosmoledo and to the anglers’ skill and determination. Congratulations to all the gentlemen on these remarkable achievements!

Overall, it was a week of incredible fishing, with a perfect balance of trophy fish, new species, and a truly unforgettable experience. Thank you to everyone for being part of this special week. We look forward to seeing you all again soon and continuing the adventures that Cosmoledo has to offer!
