    PROVIDENCE ATOLL FLY FISHING REPORT | 22 – 29  FEB 2024

The weather calmed down nicely this week, which made for arguably one of the best weeks that we have experienced on Providence Atoll. Host Helmut Zaderer and his guests Andreas Bachile, Marco Wacker, Gerhard Horl, Christoph Hottgenrot, and Thomas Maurer joined us on board Quo Vadis.

Andreas (Andy) and his boat partner Gerhard had a solid week. Andy managed several GTs, hooked and lost a few bumpies before finally landing one. He also added a very impressive 51 cm moustache triggerfish to his tally. Gerhard also added several GTs to his name, with the biggest measuring a fantastic 106 cms, the largest of the week! The celebrations did not end there. On the same day, he landed a very impressive bumphead parrotfish as well as a moustache triggerfish, giving him the only flats slam of the week.

Marco, who was a total newcomer to the world of fly fishing, had a slower start to the week but soon found his groove and added a decent number of GTs to his scorecard, with his biggest measuring 91 cms.

Thomas had a stellar week overall. He started his trip with six GTs, and two yellowmargin triggerfish, one of which was a monstrous 55 cms. He also added two bumpies to his list. He finished off the week with a total of 21 GTs.

Christoph landed the biggest bumphead parrotfish of the week, measuring 109 cms. He also had a solid number of GTs to his name.

Helmut was on a bumpy mission; his dedication and perseverance paid off when he went home with an impressive four bumpies under his belt. He also managed two yellowmargin triggerfish and 12 GTs, with his biggest being 1 m, 98 cm, and 95 cm.
