ALPHONSE ISLAND FISHING NEWS | WEEK 29 | 01 MAY – 08 MAY 2021
Four eager anglers descended onto the shores of Alphonse Island to enjoy the final week of the Alphonse Fishing season. Anglers were treated to fantastic weather and tides transitioning from spring to neap.
Anglers landed 124 bones over the week. Corrie Berrigan cleaned up on the bones managing to land 35 fish in a one-afternoon session. Day two was a brilliant day for the legendary angler Jeremy Block. Jeremy landed a beautiful 51 cm Indo-Pacific permit while walking the beach on a spot called the back of the moon.
Corrie did extremely well over the week and proved herself to be the top lady angler of the season. Over the week Corrie landed countless bonefish, four GTs measuring 60 cm, 65 cm, 70 cm, and 77 cm. Corrie went on to land a 35 cm permit giving her a slam on day four.
Jim flew onto the island to join us for two nights. Jim fished for two days and managed to land a fantastic 68 cm GT on an 8 wt fly rod as well as countless other species. Phillip Fibiger had a brilliant week of fishing for trigers. Phillip landed a large 40 cm moustache triggerfish on day two.
Another fantastic week was spent at Alphonse Island fishing the St Francois Atoll. Memories were made and bonds were formed that will last a life time.
